On January 7, young Lucas, 13, committed suicide in the Vosges after being "
moked
" at school.
The reason: his sexual orientation.
Schooled in fourth at the Louis-Armand college in Golbey, the teenager had expressed "
his desire to end his life
" in his "
diary
".
His funeral took place this Saturday, January 14, in Épinal, in the strictest privacy.
School bullying program
According to the rectorate, this bullying had been reported by Lucas himself and by his mother at the start of the school year and had been "
immediately taken seriously by the college teams
".
The young boy's college had however set up a system to fight against school harassment, the "
PHARe
" protocol.
Compulsory in all colleges and elementary schools since 2022, this program is intended in particular to train certain students to behave as whistleblowers.
“
This non-blaming method is characterized by a great concern for the target student that we want to share with the bullying students.
They become actors in resolving the situation.
This method is effective in dealing with the vast majority of situations encountered
, ”says the government website.
“Let say and do well”
On Friday January 13, the 17th issue of the establishment newspaper
Louis Hebdo
dedicated its editorial to the young Lucas, entitling it "
Let say and do well
".
The college says "
regret that we cannot communicate serenely in this mourning with this media packaging and on social networks
".
"
We must protect our entire community against censors of all stripes: reason must be kept and you can count on the professionalism and humanity of the management team in this ordeal
", is it indicated.
A preliminary investigation was opened on Wednesday in order to "
verify the direct causal link between these facts and the suicide of the young teenager
", indicated the public prosecutor of Épinal.
It should also make it possible to "
confirm the reality of the acts of harassment, their duration, the exact content of the remarks denounced, and to verify the various measures which have been taken
", he specified.
