All employees of the Ebersberg district clinic (here an employee on the Corona ward in 2020) had to work under difficult conditions because of the protective conditions, but not all received a bonus for this.

That causes dissatisfaction.

Some got it, others didn't: We're talking about the care bonus.

There is currently a bad mood at the Ebersberg district clinic.

Ebersberg

– Well intentioned, but badly done by politicians?

That clapping alone is not enough - there was quick agreement in the corona pandemic when it came to the deployment of nursing staff in hospitals.

That is why the federal government decided on the care bonus and the state government on the intensive care bonus.

Both were paid out to a total of 269 employees at the Ebersberg district clinic in December last year.

Since then there has been thick air there.

There is talk of "fuel for the working atmosphere" and "division of the teams".

Bonuses only for registered nurses

The reason: only registered nurses who worked “at the bedside” for at least 185 days in 2021 were able to enjoy the care bonus and intensive care bonus.

Nursing assistants, cleaning staff, ward secretaries and everyone else got nothing.

And that stinks for some of them.

"This is extremely unfair," says a nursing assistant who does not want her name to appear in the newspaper because she fears professional disadvantages.

Everyone in the clinic worked under a much greater burden during the pandemic, which is why everyone deserved the bonuses, the woman argues and says: "It's not about the money paid out, but about the unfair distribution and about appreciation and recognition of every single employee.” A smooth daily routine in the clinic is not only kept going with specialists.

Without the "rank and file" who work diligently in the background, a company like this would collapse like a house of cards in a very short time, according to the nursing assistant, who pretends to speak on behalf of many colleagues.

Accusation: Clinic has not communicated recipients

"The works council's email inbox is certainly overflowing, there are so many complaints," says the woman, who knows that it's not the clinic that decides who gets the special payments, but the legislature.

But she suspects that if her employer had communicated this clearly in advance, he would have been spared a lot of trouble.

The Ebersberg district clinic received over 512,000 euros from the federal government and 174,000 euros from the state to pass it on to employees.

Martin Ellmauer, deputy managing director and HR manager, shows understanding for the displeasure in the ranks of the staff.

But those responsible in the district clinic have their hands tied when it comes to the distribution of federal and state funds.

There are strict legal requirements that all hospitals have to adhere to, and there is no leeway for management to make decisions.

The bonuses are for registered nurses, probably also to make the profession more attractive and to bind people to their strengths.

The nursing assistant who got nothing says that she enjoys working at the district hospital.

But at the moment she feels "forgotten" by politics.

This is especially the case for the cleaning staff, who did their job under “crass conditions” during the pandemic.

"They would have been happy about a few hundred euros," she says.

But nothing was left because other nurses went home in December with senior physician salaries.
