The Sternhaus will be completely renovated from March.

This will be a burden for many residents.

In an interview, Ottobrunn's Mayor Thomas Loderer talks about planned projects and why his municipality is much further ahead than other municipalities when it comes to climate protection.

Ottobrunn

– The negative factors of the energy crisis and the Ukraine war have had an impact on Ottobrunn that will also be relevant at the municipal level next year.

The Münchner Merkur spoke with Mayor Thomas Loderer about these effects, but also about projects that are prioritized in the community.

You only have limited possibilities for control in the municipal sector.

In terms of what I do and what I can influence, I'm very optimistic because that's where I can best assess the situation.

But there are factors that are simply stressful, and they remain so.

There will probably continue to be reasons for fleeing, especially from the Ukraine.

What has happened in Ottobrunn in the meantime and what's next?

A container housing complex is being built at the corner of Rosenheimer Landstrasse and Robert-Koch-Strasse.

The district office is the client and decides when to start.

There is a building permit.

The community offered the property to the district office because we see the need that the state has.

Everyone on the municipal council, including myself, supports the idea of accommodating the refugees in the best possible way.

What I personally regretted: garden friends tended a few raised beds, which I also helped to support.

A small, charming garden was created, but unfortunately the beds had to go.

That being said, it is property that we hold as a community.

It is undeveloped.

But when the need is there, it is a suitable location in an integrated location.

Perfectly connected to public transport.

Mayor Thomas Loderer is also campaigning for the expansion of public transport.

Climate change is another unpleasant factor.

You are now joining the Arge Wärmewende.

How do you feel about this?

The CSU parliamentary group and I voted against it.

My opposition isn't because district heating doesn't play a role for me.

The opposite is the case.

We've been doing this for 13 years.

To this day I don't see what this membership is supposed to bring us.

When it comes to district heating, we are much more advanced than some other municipalities for which a merger makes sense.

I don't question that at all.

But we already have a successful strategy, which can be quantified by the amount of heat consumed per year.

What is connected and what is still to come?

Acceptance points are worked out with Stadtwerke München, which acts as our supplier, so that it becomes economically interesting for the company.

For example, think of the Isarcenter, which is already connected.

Current example: the Hanns-Seidel-Haus on Ottostrasse.

The topic was opened up there, and I saw that if they say yes, we can lay an important thread.

That happened this year, the house depends on district heating, as does our fire brigade, and we can continue with the lines in the future.

Next year, the line on Ottostrasse will be extended over the level crossing in the direction of Karl-Stieler-Strasse.

The route from Ottostraße to the town hall is also planned for 2024.

In this course, water pipe construction measures are carried out.

This is how we achieve synergies.

That means your strategy is working.

Yes.

According to this principle of economic efficiency, we have already connected all schools, including the high school and the secondary school in Neubiberg, the Carl Steinmeier school and the high school in Ottobrunn.

But also the Josef Seliger settlement.

We are therefore on a different level than other communities, and there is no objective reason to take part in the consortium.

Let's stay with the climate for a moment. The communities are asked which areas within and outside the community area are suitable for wind power.

What do you say?

I think the next wind turbine can be built in Brunnthal.

We have no active part in it.

I'm interested and also think it's necessary for wind turbines to be put up, but we're completely outside of that.

Ottobrunn has zero scope and is not a community.

The stock of the Isarcenter is being renovated.

The new building is already up.

What renovations are pending on the streets that are important to you?

A crossing island in the area of the Putzbrunner- at the level of the Beethovenstraße at the level of the Müller drugstore.

Here, cyclists with trailers can also stand safely in the middle without having to worry about an accident.

Also at the Brunneck: There will soon be an express bus that comes from Putzbrunn and drives to the Isarphilharmonie on the Brudermühlstraße in Munich.

A stop is created at Bruneck.

To do this, we have to upgrade the bus stops on both sides of Putzbrunner Straße and make them barrier-free.

The bus could come at the next timetable change.

For this we roll out the carpet beforehand.

A really big construction project is pending, the Sternhaus.

What will happen there in the next few months?

We have been planning this for a long time according to the motto: thoroughness before speed.

But this year it's going full steam ahead.

The high-rise in the Lenbachsiedlung will be renovated, built and converted on a large scale from March.

We have fixed it with a total cost of 18 million euros.

I'm afraid we'll have to talk about this more often.

It's unlikely to go below that.

The construction is a big burden for the tenants, no question.

The noise, the dirt, dust and much more.

We provided information about this at a tenants' meeting together with the property developer, the construction company München Land, and will respond to each one individually so that everyone can get through the time well.

The positive: We secure living space in an interesting building.

And in terms of results, it's great if there's a top house again at the end of 2024.
