Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced that British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly and British Army Chief of Staff Patrick Sanders had been included in the Russian sanctions list.
Russia Today website quoted Zakharova as saying in a statement: “Because of the British government’s continued anti-Russian policy, it was decided to add a number of members of the Cabinet, representatives of law enforcement bodies and the press corps in Britain to the Russian sanctions list.”
Zakharova indicated that the list also includes Minister of Social and Economic Development for Regions, Housing and Communities, Local Government Michael Gove, Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster Oliver Dowden, Minister without Portfolio Nazim Al-Zahawi, and some representatives of the leadership of the British Strategic Department and the National Center for Cybersecurity.
Zakharova stressed that Moscow does not see the need to publish the names of all the new people on the list because the British side is fully aware of who the conversation is about, explaining that if the British side shows interest in this issue, then we will inform them and inform the public about those who indulge in a hostile course aimed at demonizing our state. Attempts to isolate it internationally, and destroy the foundations of bilateral relations.
