The romantic comedy carried by star actor Neil Patrick Harris (

How I Met Your Mother

) is stopped after only one season.

A blow for fans of the series who were happy to know the rest of the adventures of Michael, a New York real estate agent, newly single after seventeen years of relationship.

A screenplay bet thought up by Darren Star and Jeffrey Richman (

Modern Family

) judged to be a failure by Netflix.

The exasperated fans

No member of the cast or production has yet reacted.

But expectations for this eight-episode series were high.

Uncoupled

marked the big comeback of Neil Patrick Harris, after his role as the Machiavellian Count Olaf in

The Disastrous Adventures of the Baudelaire Orphans 

released in 2017.
