The White House said this Saturday that lawyers for the president, Joe Biden, this week found more classified documents at his residence in Wilmington, Delaware, than had been initially reported.
A total of six pages of classified documents were found during a search of Biden's private library on Thursday, though
the White House initially said only one had been found.
The documents belong to the
time when Joe Biden was vice president during the Barack Obama Administration (2009-2017).
Richard Sauber, a White House attorney, explained in a statement that the additional papers were found by him on Thursday.
The first document was found that day by Biden's personal lawyers, he said, but they did not have authorization to search and stopped.
Sauber added that the Justice Department, which is investigating the discovery of these and other classified government documents in various Biden offices in recent months, "immediately took possession" of the papers.
Classified documents like those held by Biden (and Trump) "are the crown jewels in the US."
