The government is expected to approve today (Sunday) at its weekly meeting a series of senior appointments in the government ministries, as well as some of the plans for the division and transfer of operational areas between the ministries as stipulated in the coalition agreements.
Among other things, the responsibility for the unit for external programs in the Ministry of Education will be transferred to the Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Office Avi Maoz from the Noam Party, and the Information Ministry will be re-established for the benefit of the new Minister Galit Distal Atabrian.
The Information Ministry was reinvented last week, more than a decade after it was closed for the work arrangements of Likud members.
When the government was sworn in about two weeks ago, Distal Atbarian was appointed as a minister in the Prime Minister's Office, but last week Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu decided to make a change and announced that she would be Minister of Information - so that he could appoint Knesset member May Golan as a minister in the Prime Minister's Office, that is, a minister without a portfolio.

The government will today approve the changes in positions, which are also subject to Knesset approval.
The government's decision indicates that a budget of approximately NIS 19 million will be allocated for the establishment of the new office of Distel Atabrian, NIS 10.8 million from the budget of the Prime Minister's Office and NIS 8.4 million from the budget of the Tax Authority until the approval of the 2023 budget. However, there is no detail of the purpose of the budget or of Powers and responsibilities of the new office.
The government will also continue to approve the appointments of the new CEOs of the government ministries: the appointed CEO of the Ministry of Finance Shlomi Heizler, the incoming CEO of the Ministry of Energy Kobi Blitstein, and the candidates for CEO of the Ministry of Education Brigadier General (Acting) Assaf Tselal, CEO To the Ministry of Economy Amnon Merhav, Director General of the Ministry of Culture and Sports Kafir Suissa and Director General of the Ministry of Religion Yehuda Avidan.
All the appointments received the approval of the Committee for Senior Appointments in the Civil Service Commission and will come into effect after their approval by the government.
Another decision-making proposal on the government's agenda will realize the transfer of powers and departments to the Prime Minister's Office in accordance with the coalition agreements.
Deputy Minister Uri Makleb, who serves as Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Office and Transportation, will today assume responsibility for the Authority for Social Economic Development of the ultra-orthodox sector and the Authority for Holocaust Survivors, who will move from the Ministry to Social Equality.
Maoz, will receive the powers pertaining to the programs unit in the Ministry of Education, which is in charge of enrichment programs and external collaborations in the education system.
