Officers from infantry brigades explained that due to the limited amount given to the soldiers, there is a phenomenon of collecting ammunition at the end of training, in order to keep it for the next exercise. "Soldiers do not always realize that they are collecting ammunition, or weapons that contain gunpowder. The fighters want to become professional"

In the shadow of the death of the soldier Denis Zinoviev in the Kfir Brigade from an explosion that fell from a mortar in the soldiers' room, officers from the infantry brigades said this morning (Sunday) that they had warned in the past, and regardless of the case of death, about a phenomenon of collecting ammunition from the field. According to the officers, fighters on the track (between stage the trainees for the end of the training) collect old ammunition with strict adherence to a limited and controlled number of ammunition that is given to the soldiers who are responsible for the munitions.

One of the officers said, "Without referring to the incident in Kafir, in general, fighters in training are motivated to fire a grenade. For example, in a company exercise, he is allowed to fire three grenades, but he wants to become a professional. If he finds a grenade? He saves it for the next exercise."

The officer also referred to the explosion of the fallen in the bag of the soldier who was killed, saying that this was an unusual case.

"The explosive inside the ammunition is called an inert explosive - even if you shoot a bullet at this grenade it shouldn't explode," he explained.

"Now we need to understand what happened before the explosion, and who this grenade belongs to. It has a serial number - they will be able to know who issued it to whom and what route it took to get to the fighters' living room."

After the incident, the commanders of the divisional training bases of the land arm received instructions to hold immediate briefings to the soldiers and commanders regarding the collection of ammunition.

One of the officers claimed that soldiers do not always realize that they are collecting ammunition, or weapons that contain gunpowder.

Army officials estimated that an order will soon be issued under the direction of the commander of the land arm, Major General Tamir Yedai, regarding a training curfew on land until the training is transferred to the soldiers, and as a condition for the return of training next week.

Tonight, the soldier Denis Zinoviev was killed at the training base of the Kafir Brigade in the Jordan Valley, as a result of the explosion of a bomb in his room.

Another soldier was seriously injured, and two other soldiers were slightly injured, while there were seven soldiers in the room in total.

The incident took place in the Bekot camp associated with the Kafir Brigade.

A preliminary investigation of the incident reveals that the fighter apparently found the bomb that was malfunctioning during one of the training sessions, and took it to his room in violation of security instructions.

The investigation also shows that the bomb was triggered by a blow it received, as the backpack was found, but it was not punctured.

The soldiers who were in the room told in the initial investigation that they did not see Denis playing with the ammunition or holding it in his hand.

According to them, the explosion took place under the dead man's bed, when the bomb was apparently stored in a drawer.

It is not clear how long he kept the defective ammunition, but according to army estimates, he did not find it before Saturday.
