The Cognite company transferred the sensitive technology for the National Communications Corporation of the Asian country.

An Israeli high-tech company supplied media espionage equipment to Myanmar about a month before the military coup in the country.

This was reported by the Reuters news agency, which disclosed documents that came into its possession.

Cognyte, which is traded on the Nasdaq, transferred the sensitive technology for the National Communications Corporation of Myanmar (MPT) about a year ago, despite Israeli claims that the Ministry of Defense stopped supplying sensitive equipment to Myanmar in 2017, following a ruling by the Jerusalem Supreme Court.

The lawyer Itai Mak, who specializes in human rights and the man who brought the case to the court, is calling for a criminal investigation into the deal allegedly made between Israel and Myanmar.

"Aiding the commission of crimes against humanity in Myanmar," he claimed.

Similar to the infamous "Pegasus" software of the Israeli NSO, Cognite's system allows its holders, in this case the military junta of Myanmar, to listen to phone conversations, view text messages and the content of emails as well as find a geographic location without help from Internet and telecommunications companies.

As you may remember, the military junta in Myanmar carried out a coup in February 2021. The local army killed hundreds of people during the many demonstrations that followed the coup, which was carried out due to allegations of falsification of the election results held a year earlier.

The coup is one of many moves in a series of upheavals in Myanmar, or as it was formerly known, Burma.

The military sect arrested the then democratically elected leader, Suu Kyi, on the transparent pretext of flimsy criminal charges.

The army set up roadblocks, blocked local communications and closed the country's airport.

Last December, the local court sentenced Nobel Peace Prize laureate and former Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi to an additional prison term after she was charged with five counts of corruption, following the alleged use of state funds to purchase and lease a helicopter.
