The planned family ownership promotion program is scheduled to start in June.

That's what Federal Building Minister Klara Geywitz (SPD) told the "Welt am Sonntag".

She had already announced the funding program at the end of September, but had not yet given a date.

Families with an annual income of up to 60,000 euros plus 10,000 euros per child are entitled, said Geywitz.

350 million euros a year are available for the program of the state development bank KfW with low-interest loans.

With an interest rate reduction, the leverage is better than with annual direct payments after the purchase.

»So we achieve a higher promotional effect per euro invested than with the Baukindergeld.«

The Baukindergeld, which the Union and SPD government introduced in 2018, expired in 2021.

As President of the Federal Association of German Prefabricated Construction, Mathias Schäfer called on the federal government to make a quick and reliable decision.

The construction of private family homes in particular has a lot to do with reliability and security: "After the subsidy hiccups of the last year, trust must be restored among building families and the construction industry." The federal government had canceled KfW subsidy programs worth billions.

Geywitz defends the cancellation of funding programs

Geywitz defended that decision, saying she couldn't see a direct link between grants and completions, she said.

In 2021, when the subsidy programs still existed, there would have been perfect conditions with low interest rates, no war and no sanctions.

"But that hasn't translated into increasing completions at all."

Meanwhile, the prices for new houses have risen significantly again.

so Geywitz.

If the state gives a lot of subsidy money to a market with limited capacities and high demand, this leads to rising prices but not to higher quantities.
