"
Delinquency has dropped over the last six months
" in Paris and in the Paris conurbation, even if it remains at a "
structurally high
" level, indicated the prefect of police of the capital, Laurent Nuñez, in an interview with the
Journal of Sunday
.
“
Over the last six months, damage to property has fallen by 2% in the conurbation and by 5% in Paris.
Violent robberies have fallen by 20% in the agglomeration and by 25% in the capital
”, in particular detailed Laurent Nuñez, appointed in July 2022 to replace Didier Lallement.
No “
overall positive situation
”
He attributes this drop to the deployment since his arrival of "
much more staff on public roads in the most criminogenic and busiest sectors, such as stations or tourist sites
".
“
The structurally high level of crime in the Paris region does not allow us to speak of a generally positive situation
,” he added, however.
In particular, burglaries remain a "
black spot
", with "
an increase of 5.3% in the agglomeration and 8.8% for Paris
".

we slowed down the rise – we were at + 30% when I arrived
”, assures the former Secretary of State of Christophe Castaner, then Minister of the Interior.
“
Other concerns: domestic violence (…) and non-villainous violence
” which
“continues to increase
”, according to the Prefect of Police.
