Foreign Minister Eli Cohen decided to appoint Ronan Levy (Maoz) to the position of Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ronan Levy (48) has served for almost 30 years in the intelligence and defense community, beginning with field, operations and intelligence positions in the General Security Service, and up to the position of senior division head at the Ministry's National Security Headquarters Prime Minister.
In his most recent position at the National Security Agency, Ronan served as the head of the Special Relations Division and gained experience in international relations and in developing relationships with senior government officials around the world. He led the creation of secret connections between Israel and countries with which there were no ties, was a special envoy of the Prime Minister and the head of the Security Council for special missions and contributed greatly Behind the scenes of the Abraham Accords.
Among other things, he played a decisive role in building the ties between Israel and Sudan.

Levy is a graduate of behavioral sciences, business management and economics from Ben-Gurion University, and holds an MBA from the Peres Academic Institution.
