On the occasion of his birthday, Saidian wrote an emotional post in which he talked about his feelings after a year and a half of mentally and physically dealing with his self-immolation, which almost led to his death - and brought with it a large public protest regarding the treatment of the disabled in the IDF. "Starting to feel my destiny from the darkest place in my life, starting to see the light"

Itzik Saidian to the Chief of Staff: "I paid a heavy mental price, but I'm not sorry" (Shabbat edition, News 13)

Itzik Saidian, an IDF disabled person who set himself on fire in protest of his treatment about a year and a half ago, celebrated his birthday yesterday (Saturday) and published a post in which he wrote: "From the lowest place I reached in my life I somehow slowly began to return to the place where I achieved what I wanted to

say.

" "Here I am, celebrating 28 years, despite all the predictions, I should end my life at the age of 26, two years have passed and I'm here somehow walking around and everyone knows me...", he wrote at the beginning of the post. "Looking at this, there is still a claim that says I'm two years old .

Two years in which I got to know myself and the world anew.

Who am I and what is my calling, why did I stay here against all odds?

So yes, it depends.

I have Yitzhak Saidian who lived from a very early age like a wilted leaf.

And there is two-year-old Yitzhak who feels that maybe somewhere he has started to grow the roots of his own tree.

"From the lowest place I reached in my life, I somehow slowly began to return to the place where I fulfilled what I wanted to say. And I begin to feel my destiny from the darkest place in my life. I feel that maybe sometimes I can see the light at the end of the tunnel."

He added, "Somewhere I feel completely that I have begun my and our general private exodus from Egypt. My choice for the next year is to get even closer to the promised land, and thus everyone around me and those who are not. And in the right way, which can be extreme but not by Aqada."

In June of the latter, Saidian spoke for the first time in public during an annual gathering of Sheba Hospital in Tel Hashomer, where President Yitzhak Herzog also spoke.

Saidian was badly burned when he set himself on fire in front of the Ministry of Defense's rehabilitation center offices in Petah Tikva, the day before Memorial Day for the fallen of the IDF about a year and a half ago.

After that, the Ministry of Defense promoted the "One Soul" reform, which was designed to improve the situation of the disabled in the IDF in general and post-trauma victims in particular.
