Scandals are practically part of day-to-day business at “I'm a Celebrity – Get Me Out of Here!”

At the start of the 16th jungle camp season, we look back at the most dramatic moments of the RTL show.

1 / 19 As early as 2004, in the first jungle camp season ever, there was blasphemy: Caroline Beil earned the nickname "Hackebeil" from her fellow campers after she had messed with a whole series of stars.

Unpleasant words were spoken in particular about Susan Stahnke, Daniel Küblböck († 35) and Mariella Ahrens – the TV audience all heard them thanks to the cleverly placed cameras.

2 / 19Hip-hop producer DJ Tomekk caused a real scandal in 2008, in the third season of "I'm a star – get me out of here!" Departure from hotel in Australia shows.

In it he raises his right arm in a Hitler salute.

RTL then threw the musician out of the show.

In the picture interview, DJ Tomekk was remorseful afterwards: "I don't know how something like this could happen to me.

5 / 19But in the fifth jungle camp season, there was another excitement: Jay Khan and Indira Weis made headlines on "I'm a star – get me out of here!" by entering into a love relationship in the Australian bush.

6 / 19 At the time, Sarah Knappik also accused the lovebirds of only pretending their jungle camp techy affair: "Jay was at my house before the show and suggested that I play a love story like Katy Price and Peter Andrew," she revealed to her fellow candidates at the time – but hardly anyone wanted to believe her.

Jay Kahn commented four years later in an RTL interview and admitted: "The fact is, I was at her house.

7 / 19In season 6, Vincent Raven was not only noticed thanks to his iron stomach and lively appetite, but also because of homophobic statements: Red is a "queer color", the mentalist scolded and made no secret of his questionable worldview.

Women should "never be elected bosses, they'll start to get crazy," he said, among other things.

9 / 19 In season 7, too, some jungle camp residents revealed more about themselves than the television viewer would have liked: pop singer Klaus Baumgart dropped his pants in the middle of the bush – a sight that not everyone liked: “How often do you want the box still hold it in the camera?” Claudelle Deckert replied angrily at the time, Iris Klein even spoke of an “accident”.

DSDS participant Patrick Nuo revealed in the jungle that he had been addicted to porn films for a long time.

He watched sleazy films for more than three hours a day and as a result "didn't feel anything anymore, even with the most beautiful women".

11 / 19In contrast to the harmless snakes that were used in the jungle test, these two ladies sprayed a lot of poison in 2013: A real bitch-Zoff flared up between Georgina Fleur and Fiona Erdmann.

13 / 19Between Thorsten Legat and Helena Fürst it really escalated in the 2016 jungle camp (season 10): The ex-footballer was "the worst thing I've come across here," railed the poor man's lawyer, but the kicker shot back , insulted his adversary as a "fart woman" and doubted live on television that Fürst was doing a good job as a single mother.

14 / 19 In the course of the dispute, there were also violent allegations and questionable statements: Helena Fürst's claim that Thorsten Legat was "misogynistic" and a "bloke", countered the Bundesliga champion of 1993 with a saying far from good taste.

"If you have problems with male society, then you have to look for some tranny," Legat said at the time.

15 / 19In the eleventh jungle camp season, no candidate polarized as much as Alexander "Honey" Keen: The ex of GNTM winner Kim Hnizdo provoked with his arrogant, smug manner. The extreme was not only in the camp, but also in the jungle tests, which Honey liked to happily break off before they even started.

While his roommates were starving because of it, some viewers accused him of deliberate tactics.

16 / 19Hanka Rackwitz also made few new friends in season 11: some of her fellow campers had little sympathy for her obsessive-compulsive disorders (compulsive washing, compulsive control, claustrophobia, panic fear of dirt, wounds and physical contact).

Problematic: Instead of going to the toilet, she relieved herself several times in the pond where the others usually bathed.

17 / 19In the jungle camp 2019 (season 13), Chris Töpperwien and Bastian Yotta just bubbled with hatred for each other.

Even before the show, the two had been fighting each other on Instagram, with "I'm a star – get me out of here!" The argument then culminated: "I think that guy is really terrible.

I know what kind of left-wing bug that guy is.

I got a lot of emails from his fans begging me to give him their opinion," said the "Goodbye Germany" emigrant, who was once a close friend of Yotta.

18 / 19The 14th jungle camp season again caused a lot of drama: Danni Büchner experienced an emotional time in Australia.

Jens Büchner's widow († 49) received massive criticism on Twitter and also made herself unpopular with her fellow candidates.

Every day she had to compete in the jungle test.

Elena Miras and Co. labeled her sometimes very intense emotional outbursts as a deliberately staged "Danni Show".

19 / 19For Janina Youssefian, the time in "I'm a star – get me out of here!" (Season 15, 2022) was neither long nor really glorious: the model threw a racist statement at her jungle camp competitor Linda-Caroline Nobat in an argument the head.

RTL responded: "We have to tell you that statements like Janina's cannot be tolerated.

Janina has to leave the camp," moderator Daniel Hartwich let the campers know over the jungle phone at the time.

Murwillumbah – On January 13, the jungle camp will be in its 16th round.

Since 2004, "I'm a Celebrity - Get Me Out of Here!", with interruptions between 2005 and 2007 as well as 2010, has entertained millions of viewers who are hoping for the next big drama episode after episode.

There has been plenty of that in the RTL cult format so far, as our photo series shows once again in unforgettable scenes.
