Imaginary rain of money on the sports field in Olching: 421 ticket holders were happy to win the German Postcode Lottery on Saturday.

The lucky fairy even bestowed six-figure sums on four main winners.

The people of Olching, who all live on the same street, plan to use the money, they know immediately.

Olching – There are 8181 postcodes for places in Germany.

One is drawn every month in the German Postcode Lottery.

"82140" was the most recent draw.

The zip code belongs to Olching.

Although 28,000 people live in the city, a total of 700,000 euros has only been distributed among 421 of them.

The lucky ones were in possession of one or more of the lots on the key date.

You can buy these for 12.50 euros.

A maximum of three pieces will be issued per person.

Postcode lottery in Olching: 700,000 euros go to four residents

There is another 700,000 euros for a two-letter code that stands for a street.

The fewer ticket owners live there, the higher the profit.

In the most recent drawing, this applied to four ticket holders who live on the street in question.

They each received a quarter of the main prize of EUR 175,000.

Two people from Olching are initially speechless when they open their golden envelopes, which the lottery ambassador Giuliano Lenz - former Mister Germany from Konstanz - hands over to them.

In the envelope from Günter and his wife Mara there are 175,000 euros each.

The two are married and both took part in the postcode lottery with one ticket each.

This means that they are suddenly 350,000 euros richer.

They would like to donate part of the profits

The two Olchingers know immediately what they will do with the profit: the couple wants to donate part of it to regional charities, as well as give their two sons financial support and renovate the house, which is getting on in years.

"There are a few things to set up again," says Günter.

The 63-year-old has lived right next to the second main winner of the day since he was a child: Fred.

He is three years younger than Günter, "but we are both natives of Neu-Esting".

Fred also pulls out a big winning ticket from his golden envelope.

The account held with his wife Maria is now being refreshed by 175,000 euros.

"We don't yet know what we're going to do with all the money.

But that relaxes the future.

It makes a lot of things easier,” says Fred, who describes buying the ransom as the second best decision of his life – “after my wife”.

They should get a new kitchen.

The fourth big winner from Neu-Esting's Siegerstrasse wants to remain anonymous and doesn't mix with the 400-strong cheering crowd in the afternoon either.

The lucky winners gathered on the football field in Olching to receive the 1225 euro checks, which were also wrapped in gold envelopes.

Olching's Mayor Andreas Magg is also there and speaks of "great luck that, after the suburb in Maisach, has now also reached our city".

It was not until April 2021 that the Maisacher postal code “82216” was drawn in the German Postcode Lottery.

Postcode lottery: Olchinger has won several times

Multiple winners: Hans-Jürgen Budich (with his wife Theresia) has often raked in the cash when gambling.

Among the many leading actors in front of the cameras are Hans-Jürgen Budich and his wife Theresia.

In the 1980s, the former Bruck Stadtwerke boss had several experiences with gambling in TV studios and, among other things, won non-cash prizes worth more than 20,000 euros at the legendary Sat1 wheel of fortune.

Now he, like 307 other "small winners" from Olching, is happy about his share of 1225 euros.

Football referee Konrad Hainzinger and his wife Christa are just as happy.

The money won't stay in their accounts for long: "Our washing machine is 30 years old and we urgently need a new one," says Konrad Hainzinger.

77 other players from Olching bought two lots at the same time and booked 2450 euros each.

36 lucky three-pack wait for 3675 euros.

Gröbenzell association receives donation

Another regional winner is the KinderLeicht association founded in Gröbenzell.

Because a large part of the Postcode proceeds benefit social causes.

In the case of Olching, that's 30,000 euros.

Project manager Nina Helleberg accepted the check from lucky messenger Giuliano Lenz.

The money is to be used, among other things, for nutrition classes in schools.

Around two years ago, 82216 was the lucky postal code for 104 winners from Maisach.

There, in April 2021, 100 ticket holders each won 5158 euros.

There has never been such a geographical proximity between two winning locations in the postcode lottery, which has been played since 2016.

But the Thuringian town of 3,200 souls, Gräfenroda, has already been hit twice.
