A limited edition with a “panda” dial to mark the beginning of the 60th anniversary of one of the star watches launched by Jack Heuer.

She was born in 1963, and she is still faithful to the position, or rather to the wrist.

That of Mick Jagger in the 1970s, that of Ryan Gosling today.

Returning in recent years closer to its timeless lines, the TAG Heuer Carrera remains what it has always been: a pilot's watch, reliable, elegant, readable, and above all still and always cool.

A leitmotif for Jack Heuer, used to circuits and racing cars throughout his career.

In 1962, at the 12 Hours of Sebring, the Rodríguez brothers talked about the Carrera Panamericana, a road race in Mexico as legendary as it was dangerous.

With his unique sense of marketing, as always ahead of his time, the man who literally invented motorsport sponsorship then had the idea of using this name to baptize a wrist chronograph.

In 1963, the Carrera was born.

Six decades later, she definitely does not look her age.

To launch the festivities of its 60th anniversary, TAG Heuer presents a first model in a limited edition of 600 pieces, inspired by a model dear to collectors.

Return, therefore, to the vintage and eternal lines of the reference 2447 SN of the end of the 1960s. This first generation Carrera model then had a Valjoux chronograph movement with manual winding and a silvered or black dial, in different configurations, sometimes with a ladder around it.

This anniversary model offers a faithful reinterpretation of the Carrera 2447 SN.

Its color palette is directly inspired by the original model, even taking up the black bands under the central hands and the hour markers, the double stop at 12 o'clock and, of course, the black counters with very contrasting white markings.

The vintage Heuer logo is also present, surmounted by the name Carrera, on a silver sunburst dial.

In the game of differences, some keen observers will notice the inversion of the 60-minute and 12-hour counters, as well as the disappearance of the T on the dial, which indicated the use of radioactive tritium in the original model.

Today, no more question of radioactivity, place in Super-LumiNova.

The dial is held by a 39 mm polished steel case, surmounted by a "glassbox" type sapphire crystal which, together with the vintage push-buttons, the beige luminescent coating and the tachymeter scale in finesse around the circumference of the dial , gives the watch its vintage aesthetic.

Through the sapphire crystal case back, one can see Caliber Heuer 02, the TAG Heuer in-house automatic movement with an 80-hour power reserve.
