The hearings in the case of the mayor of Kiryat Motzkin, Haim Tzuri, have ended, and in the coming days the prosecutor's office is expected to announce whether it will indeed file an indictment against him. Even if a criminal indictment is filed against him

In June of last year, the cyber department of the State Attorney's Office informed, on the opinion of the State Attorney, Tzuri's attorney, that he was being considered for prosecution for the crimes of taking a bribe, breach of trust, fraudulently obtaining something under aggravating circumstances, obstructing legal proceedings, and breaching privacy, which he allegedly committed in two different cases between the years 2008-2018, subject to the hearing in question.

The cases were investigated by the national unit for fraud investigations in Blade 443 of the Israel Police together with the Authority for the Protection of Privacy at the Ministry of Justice.

Haim Tzuri has been the mayor of Kiryat Motzkin for 30 years, since 1993. Even if a criminal indictment is filed, Tzuri intends to run in the upcoming elections.

One of the prominent candidates to replace Tsuri.

He is the chairman of the opposition, Tsiki Avisher.

An election survey conducted in the city in the last two months states that 46% want to replace the veteran mayor Haim Tzuri

"We are waiting for the decision of the prosecutor's office," said Lavala!

Lawyer Micha Patman, who represents Tzuri, "Mayor Haim Tzuri's integrity will be determined either by the closing of the case or, God forbid, if it is decided to prosecute him - by his acquittal."

In the meantime, unknown persons who are apparently impatient to wait for the decision of the prosecutor's office and the court, have in recent days set up a Facebook page under the title "Corruption in Kiryat Motzkin", against Tzuri and the municipal inspectors headed by him, using the description "Ghetto Motzkin 2023", "SS inspectors of Hitler's Tzuri army ", and uploaded photos and a video there, in which Tzuri and his inspectors, the municipal employees, are seen in combination with Nazi symbols.

A complaint was filed with the police.

The municipality appealed to Meta (Facebook) to block the user and remove the inciting content.

The offending photos and captions have been removed from the page in the meantime.

The municipality of Kiryat Motzkin stated: "Recently, the cases of assaults and harm to municipal inspectors have increased throughout the city, and today we are witnessing a serious increase in which various parties are spreading hate propaganda and comparing the inspectors and their work to the activities of skeptics from distant and dark times. The municipality administration will continue to back the inspectors who do sacred work in maintaining public order".

Mayor Haim Tzuri added: "I was surprised to see the video in which all our inspectors appear next to Nazi symbols. I contacted the office of the Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gabir, and sent him the video. I hope that the police will deal with the matter with the utmost severity. It crossed all limits. Also of opposition and also the limit of logic"

His bitter rival, Tsiki Avisher, who intends to run against him for mayor in the upcoming elections, also agrees with him on this matter: "Today, a line was once again crossed in the political discourse in Motzkin. This time against dedicated municipal employees."

According to Avisher, "This is a dangerous border crossing, and the law must be meted out with all severity against anyone who stands behind this page, and against another impostor page, which echoes the shocking message."
