The Palestinian organizations take advantage of the problematic economic situation of the residents of East Jerusalem - and thus harness the young people to riot and throw stones • "We lack education, these children are incited so that there will be a mess in the area"

A serious phenomenon is occurring in East Jerusalem, in which terrorist organizations give money, food and drink to children and teenagers so that they riot and throw stones.

This is how the organizations take advantage of the problematic economic situation of the residents of the neighborhoods in East Jerusalem, and encourage the growth of the next generation of terrorists.

A significant figure in the east of the city, who preferred to remain anonymous for fear of harm from the terrorist organizations, agreed to speak with "Israel Today" and describe the current reality in East Jerusalem.

"The economic situation is very difficult," she said frankly.

"It causes young people to go to terrorism and to crime because they are paid money for it. Children are given 100 shekels to go throw stones. The young people are on the streets and have nothing to do, so they end up throwing stones and terrorism. Both Hamas and Fatah operate in neighborhoods in East Jerusalem.

They know where the children's plight is and take advantage of them."

"false promises"

The source who spoke with us added and described the modus operandi of the terrorist organizations: "They go around the distressed neighborhoods of Issawiya, Silwan, A-Tor, the Shoafat refugee camp, take in the families who are having difficulties, give the children money or buy them cola, pizza and also cigarettes, and tell them go throw stones

difficult financial situation.

"There is terrorism as well as crime that is celebrated on these children. The children do not understand and they are victims of everything. They are given false promises. They and their families end up paying the price by having their lives destroyed. I saw it with my own eyes. It starts at a very young age. I was a witness To this. The children do it for the money and the food, and also out of boredom. With my own eyes, I saw a 7-year-old boy throw a stone. Then other children see it and copy it from social networks. This is a dangerous phenomenon."

"Everyone is a victim"

In the neighborhoods in East Jerusalem, they are aware of the root of the problem: "We lack a lot of education. They incite these children so that there is a mess in the area and give the children money to throw stones. This is our reality in the East of the city. This must not happen because the children need to learn, and not throw them into terrorism and exploit their families , who are in distress. A generation of terrorists and criminals has grown up here from a young age. The terrorist organizations target the little children. It's a shame and disgrace."

During the conversation, the senior official repeated several times his request not to be revealed: "I don't want them to know who I am because it's dangerous for me. The terrorist organizations are capable of abuse and also throw Molotov cocktails. They have interpreters who translate every word you write into Arabic. Jerusalem should be quiet and vibrant. Abandon the stone, which only destroys. Everyone is a victim."

A police official with whom we spoke points out that beyond police treatment, real deterrence must include significant punishment.

If it is small children, the parents must bear the responsibility.

At the same time, there is no doubt that the economic situation requires treatment by the authorities responsible for it.

The police also state that whether it is a child or a teenager or an adult, they treat the issue with all seriousness.
