This statement by Laurent Berger is a new illustration of the growing distrust of unions towards Nupes.
Against the background of the failure of participation, already significant frictions were emerging during old mobilizations orchestrated by La France insoumise, such as the march "against high cost of living" on October 16, or the "high popular tide", in May 2018. Some trade union centers suspect Jean-Luc Mélenchon of wanting to appropriate social protest.
However, the very essence of the role of trade unions is to make workers' demands heard by resorting to legal forms of collective action, at the head of which are demonstrations and strikes.
