They assure that the spotlights on the Costanera Sur are controlled but that it will take several days to finish turning it off

A column of

white smoke

that comes out of the Ecological Reserve invades some neighborhoods of the City of Buenos Aires this Sunday.

The

smell of burning

, at times, is unbearable.

The reason is the

fires on the Costanera Sur

, which the authorities say are "controlled", but continue to affect the residents.

Several crews from the City Fire Department, Volunteer Fire Department and the Federal Police worked all night on Saturday and early this Sunday morning fighting the fire in the Reserve.

Firefighters work to put out the fire.

The outbreaks were located in the sectors of Camino de los Plumerillos and in the area of Laguna Seca, in an area of approximately 800 meters, according to police sources.

The flames began on Saturday afternoon and it is the second time that vegetation has burned in four days in that place.

The work to extinguish it in its entirety continued with the idea of extinguishing it.

But, despite the efforts of the firefighters, this Sunday a column of smoke could still be seen coming out of the reserve and the smell of burning also continued.

Diego Coria, fire inspector, indicated around 10 that "we are working with six lines of attack" to fight the fire and that the fire is "controlled."

Work started a couple of days ago.

This morning, through a helicopter with a bucket from the City Police, the brigade members attacked a front of approximately 700 meters x 2.50 meters high that appeared irregularly and in an area of bushes.

Once these works were completed, the brigade members resumed their tasks to put out the small spotlights inside the property with a line and also using zapata material to extinguish the incident.

Regarding the causes of the fire, which has not yet been determined, Coria considered that there are many variables and that it could even have been generated

"by a dry root affected by the high temperatures that impacted the city

. "

Two firefighters had to be treated due to smoke inhalation.

Coria stated that "the wind is a fundamental factor in controlling the fire" and that "manual work is being done to put out the lights."

"The fire is under control, but this takes days. In addition, the heat caused the land to be very dry," Coria remarked, in statements to the TN channel, and specified that the fire is sectored in an area where "there is a dry lagoon where seagulls live

This morning, the firefighters with several water lines and infantry personnel with sapping material had already worked to put out small sources that remained, after last night they had managed to control the spread of the fire.

The column of white smoke is still visible after several work in the area.

Two volunteer firefighters were treated for smoke inhalation and a City firefighter because an incandescent particle affected his eye, according to a police report.

This morning, in addition, the firefighting tasks began with a PFA H-14 helicopter with a helibalde.

The fire affected the Camino de los Plumerillos, 100 meters from Laguna Seca, the same site of the fire that started last Wednesday.

They say it is controlled but the smell of smoke continues to be felt.

Volunteer firefighters from San Telmo, Puerto Madero, Barracas, Pompeya, La Boca, the City of Buenos Aires and personnel from the Special Federal Rescue Brigade (Befer) worked to combat the flames.
