The hiring of the Ukrainian
Mykhailo Mudryk
was finalized this Sunday by
Chelsea
, with whom he committed for the next eight and a half years.
The midfielder, who arrived unexpectedly after the English club flirted with the Argentine world champion
Enzo Fernández
, was presented in society at Stamford Bridge, before the start of the match against
Crystal Palace
.
The party was complete for the Blues, who won 1-0 thanks to a solo goal by
Kai Havertz
and the inspiration of Spanish goalkeeper
Kepa Arrizabalaga
and his saves.
The Ukrainian footballer, who turned 22 earlier this month, signed his contract with the London club he joined from
Shakhtar Donetsk
for around $108 million.
"The clubs have agreed on the details of the transfer: Shakhtar will receive 75 million dollars for the player and 33 million dollars are committed in bonuses," the Ukrainian entity explained on its website.
Mudryk, who had impressed this season in the Champions League,
seemed destined to sign for Arsenal
, although Chelsea eventually came out on top.

"I'm very happy to arrive at Chelsea,"
said the player in the club's official media, who no longer has the protective blanket of Russian tycoon
Roman Abramovich
.
"This is a huge club, a fantastic league and it's a very attractive project for me at this stage of my career. I'm excited to meet my new teammates and I'm looking forward to working and learning with Graham Potter and his team." Forward.
Mudryk joined Shakhtar Donetsk's academy in 2016
and, after several senior appearances and loan spells to fellow Ukrainian League clubs Arsenal Kiev and Desna Chernigiv, he made strong first-team progression over the course of the season 2021/22, with two goals and seven assists in 11 league games.
After signing his commitment to Chelsea,
the player went to Stamford Bridge where he was introduced to his new fans
.
He stormed onto the pitch before kick-off against Crystal Palace
draped in a large Ukrainian flag
.
He made his way from the changing room tunnel to midfield and greeted his new fans before returning to the stadium box to watch the match.

"We are very happy to welcome Mykhailo to Chelsea. He is a very promising talent and we think he will be a major asset to our team now and for years to come," explained Blues owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali.
Tenth in the Premier League and with a team plagued by casualties, Chelsea are looking to relaunch their listless attack.
Mudryk is the fifth reinforcement in this transfer window
after the French defender Benoît Badiashile, the Ivorian striker David Fofana, the Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos and the Portuguese striker Joao Felix, on loan from Atlético.
Since the start of the season, Chelsea have spent $487 million on transfers.
It seems that Enzo Fernández has to wait.
