The Directorate of Agriculture in As-Suwayda provided about 20,000 free plants to support afforestation campaigns and afforestation plans for the current season.
The head of the forestry department in the Agriculture Directorate, Eng. Anas Abu Fakhr, stated in a statement to SANA reporter today that the free distribution takes place for the purposes of artificial reforestation of the sites set in the plan, in addition to meeting the needs of universities, institutes, schools, government hospitals, temples and cemeteries, after obtaining the necessary approvals.
According to Abu Fakhr, the department distributes five free forest seedlings to families wishing to plant in their home gardens or any land belonging to them, as part of the family reforestation campaigns launched by the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, as they are obtained under the family card through the two forest nurseries of Namra and Al Ain, or through coordination. with administrative units.
Eng. Abu Fakhr pointed to the availability of good quantities of seedlings for sale and distribution, which serve the agricultural operations and the expansion of green areas, and the re-cultivation of what was cut in the last period.
The forest area in As-Suwayda governorate is 12,065 hectares, distributed as 8,065 hectares of forest within state property, and 4,000 hectares of private forest.
