Against the background of the storm of legal reform, the amendment to the Norwegian law began the legislative process and its approval by the plenum • The law will allow five more ministers or deputy ministers from the Likud to resign from the Knesset and in their place the following MKs on the list will enter

As part of the next steps planned by the government, the Knesset today (Monday) approved the expansion of the Norwegian law when 63 MKs supported the proposal and 54 opposed it. Now, Likud and the other coalition parties - will be able to introduce the following candidates on the list to the Knesset, subject to the resignation of the ministers.

The amendment to the law, which will allow five more ministers or deputy ministers from the Likud to resign from the Knesset and in their place will be replaced by Norwegian MKs, was approved by a constitutional committee headed by MK Simcha Rothman last week.

The approved version does not include the "suspension mechanism" section which stated that there will be a sort of cooling off period for the reappointment to the government of a minister or deputy minister who resigned from his position in the government and thereby removed the last Knesset member on his list.

Eight committee members supported the proposal and five opposed.

Among the amendments approved in the law: allowing small factions of up to three MKs to use the Norwegian arrangement; canceling the ceiling of five Knesset members from each faction who can resign from the Knesset as part of the arrangement and stating that one third of the Knesset members in large factions will be able to use it.

Furthermore, according to the amendment, it was determined that it would not be possible to resign from the Knesset as part of the arrangement during an election or a transitional government.

MKs Seglovic and Kriv argued against doubling the coalition's influence in the Knesset.
