The economist Carlos Melconian assured this Monday that
the Government "is postponing inflation"
with its economic policies and asked that the initiatives carried out by the ministry headed by Sergio Massa put electoral speculation aside.
"This stage, which began in June-July after a major turmoil, was a stage of reformatting. The president stepped aside, a silent leadership of the vice president appeared, and the CEO of the company appeared. All of that is
this stage, which is sold out
," the economist said during an interview on
CNN Radio
.
The economist made reference to the fact that the Government had been accumulating months with low inflation since the peak of 7.4% that the consumer price index marked in July.
It seemed that this inertia was continuing and there was hope of reaching the horizon of less than 4% that Minister Sergio Massa proposed for April, but the December measurement once again turned on the red lights on the economy's dashboard.
One of the tools implemented by the Ministry of the Economy to control inflation was the launch of
the Fair Prices program
, through which companies committed to maintaining the prices of hundreds of consumer products.
Melconian criticized this policy, calling it
"small"
, since it does not attack the problem of inflation at its root, and called for more effective solutions.
"
They are postponing inflation
. When the exchange rate is not laundered, it is inflation. When you have to send the truckers... Do you think the truckers are going to go to the supermarkets...?", the economist pointed out vehemently.
"Do you think that what the fiscal and monetary macroeconomics does
is going to be disarmed by five guys hanging around in a supermarket
? That lasts two days, three days, five. Nothing more," he added.
