Members of the Consumer Council published a new issue of "Choice" monthly magazine today (15th) and tested 10 models of front-loading washer-dryers. In addition to comparing their cleanliness and dryness, they also tested their energy-saving performance.
It was found that the WWEB8502GW model of Whirlpool and a washer-dryer from Miele both scored the highest 4 points (5 points are full), and the former was only priced at 5,390 yuan, which was the cheapest among all samples, and the price was only a quarter of the latter , is the most cost-effective drying and washing machine.
However, it should be noted that although its energy-saving ability for laundry has the highest score of 4.5 points, its energy-saving performance for dry clothes is only 3 points.

The Consumer Council tested 10 models of front-loading (commonly known as "big-eyed chicken") washer-dryers to compare the washing and drying performance, energy and water saving, washing and drying speed, quietness and shock absorption of each machine degree etc.
In terms of energy saving and water saving, the power consumption and water consumption per kilogram of clothes are evaluated. The power consumption of washing and drying clothes of the same machine is different.
In terms of total energy-saving scores, three models received the highest 4 points, namely Miele's WTD160 WCS (price: 21,980 yuan, of which the energy-saving degree of washing and drying clothes also received 4 points); Philco's PWD851400V (sales Price: 6,998 yuan, 4 points for laundry; 3.5 points for dry clothes), and Midea MFL80D14 (price: 6,499 yuan, 4 points for laundry; 3.5 points for dry clothes).
As for the Whirlpool WWEB8502GW, which is the cheapest among all samples, it only costs 5,390 yuan. Although the total energy saving score is slightly lower than the above samples, at 3.5 points, the laundry energy saving reaches 4.5 points; the only difference is that the drying performance is slightly lower at 3 points.
After comprehensive washing and drying performance, washing and drying energy saving and other aspects, the total score of the three models was awarded the highest 4 points, namely Miele's WTD160 WCS, Whirlpool's WWEB8502GW, and Siemens' WD14S460HK.
However, the price of Miele is three times higher than that of Whirlpool; as for Siemens, it also sells for 7,490 yuan, which is about 39% more expensive than Whirlpool, and the total score of energy saving is also 3.5 points.
Therefore, in terms of cost performance, Whirlpool may be higher, but it should be noted that its dry clothes are less energy efficient.
Last year (2022), the Consumer Council received 35 complaints about washing and drying machines, four more than in 2021, an increase of 13%.
In 2020, there will be 18 cases, nearly doubled.
