Jan Luca Trumpetter from Grafrath is one of the top trainees in Germany.
The 20-year-old completed his training as a two-wheeler mechatronics technician as the best - first as a chamber winner, then as Bavaria's best and finally he left all competitors behind in Frankfurt and became the national winner.
Grafrath - Three years ago Trumpetter began his training in the bicycle workshop of the long-established Herrschinger family business Nandlinger as a two-wheeler mechatronics technician in the "Bicycle Technology Department".
As it turned out, he had made a good choice for his training with the Nandlinger company: In 2021, a trainee from the Herrschinger bike shop completed his training as Upper Bavaria's best.
Senior boss Peter Nandlinger was enthusiastic about Trumpetter.
“Luca is an absolute bike freak.
As a company, we can count ourselves lucky to have such an ambitious and highly motivated trainee.” The 20-year-old is an exceptional talent.
"He's just interested in the smallest part of the bike."
Invited to the European Cup
Cycling has been his passion since childhood, says Jan Luca Trumpetter.
“Even as a child I went on tours with my father.
He taught me to do minor repairs myself.” At the age of 13 he started downhill biking.
Not only the training, but also his hobby had prepared him for the final exams at the Chamber of Crafts in Frankfurt.
The 20-year-old says that he's been very excited there ever since.
"Actually, I have nothing to lose," the countrather encouraged himself.

By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular
FFB newsletter.)
The first task was to make a front wheel.
In the second task, the Grafrather had to identify missing and incorrectly assembled components in a transmission hub and then assemble everything correctly.
Then it was about the diagnosis and error report for a defective sensor on an e-bike, the errors had to be rectified.
The final point was the installation of a brake line.
Each task had to be completed in 45 to 60 minutes.
When he was declared the national winner, he was really "flashed", he says.
Trumpetter now has the chance to represent Germany at the European Cup in Bern at the end of February.
Should he successfully master this hurdle, participation in the world championship beckons.
Master's training started
However, jan Luca Trumpetter is determined to begin his training to become a master craftsman.
Classes at the master school in Munich started this week.
“The training at the master school in Frankfurt will continue in October.
Hopefully by the beginning of 2024 I will have my master’s certificate in my hands,” he says.
Then all doors would be open to him, he says, "whether studying or working independently".
