In Île-de-France, in January, fewer and fewer trains to return in the evening… Only buses

This week and until the end of January, only two RER or train lines will operate in full from 10:30 p.m., due to

Evening returns are likely to be complicated for users of public transport in the Ile-de-France region.

Until the end of January, and sometimes much longer, many metro, RER and train lines will stop earlier, on weekday evenings, due to modernization works.

On the metro, line 4 ends its service at 10:15 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday evenings.

Ditto for the 11, interrupted from 10 p.m. from Tuesday to Thursday inclusive.

It's worse on line 14, which closes at 10 p.m. Monday to Thursday inclusive.

But it is above all on the side of the SNCF lines that the return to school at the end of the evening will be the most complicated, even though these users have few alternatives to their usual line.

Thus, almost all trains and RER are affected by early closures for the month of January or sometimes for the whole year.

To return, you will either have to opt for the car or carpooling, or be patient and take the replacement shuttles when they are in place.

No RER C from 9:30 p.m.

Like the RER B, which stops at 10:45 p.m. in the direction of Mitry (77) or Roissy (95), until March 17, every day of the week.

The RER C towards Juvisy (91), as well as Saint-Martin d'Étampes (91), Pontoise (95) or Versailles (78), ends at 9:30 p.m./10 p.m., until the end of January.

Ditto for line N, without traffic to Dreux and Mantes-la-Jolie (78) until the end of the month.

Finally, no line L either to Maisons Laffite, Versailles or Saint Nom la Bretèche (78) from 9:10 p.m., all month long.

On the RER D, in the direction of Melun (77) or Corbeil-Essonnes (91), traffic will stop a little later, from 10:30 p.m., until the end of March.

But, to pick up replacement buses to Villeneuve-Saint-Georges (94),

sometimes you have to first take metro line 8 to Maisons-Alfort (94) then get out and find the right bus to complete your journey... A real obstacle course!

Same closing time for RER E and line P to the East, but this time until the end of the year.

Line H is also concerned until the end of the month.

As well as line U, which will be totally closed all month of February.

The SNCF had warned.

The year 2023 will be at least as complicated in terms of works as 2022, with more than 1,000 sites essential to modernize the network.

“But there are closings from 9:30 p.m.

This is no longer possible !

sighs Marie-Hélène Wittersheim, from the Courb association, which represents users of the RER B south.

According to her, “there is a significant drop in people going out at night.

These early closures have a real impact on the link between the outer suburbs and the capital.

Even with trains at 10:30 p.m., it's impossible to go see a concert or a show”.

To be sure to have the last train, except to be right next to it, it often takes 30 minutes and one or two connections.

“This means leaving your place of leisure before 10 p.m.,” continues the president of the association.

“People prefer to avoid substitute buses.

We are often told about problems, says Jonathan Magano, of the Sadur association.

For example, it happens that new drivers make mistakes, do not always stop at the right place”.

And these buses lengthen the travel time considerably.

“During this time, the price of the Navigo pass has risen by 12%”, still breathes a user.

During the extraordinary council of Ile-de-France Mobilités, last Friday, Valérie Pécresse, the president, mentioned a study to set up express replacement buses.

But the SNCF hinted that it would be "difficult to do more than what we are already doing".
