Four people, including a former Sicilian regional deputy, were arrested and placed under house arrest by the carabinieri of the provincial command of Catania as part of an investigation into Società degli Interporti Siciliani Spa, a company with total public participation.

The crimes hypothesized by the Gip in the precautionary provision, for various reasons, are undue inducement to give or promise benefits, embezzlement, corruption for an act contrary to one's official duties and counterfeiting and use of public seals.

During the investigations by soldiers of the Arma, conducted from September 2019 to March 2021, the illegal interferences that a former regional deputy would have exercised on the then sole director of the Società degli interporti siciliani spa to favor an employee of the company would have emerged.

Among the undue interferences contested, through the intercession of some regional politicians, there would also be the revocation of the dismissal of the woman who had falsely certified that she possessed a degree.

Also involved was an entrepreneur in the field of logistics road haulage who, through a corruptive agreement with the sole director himself, in exchange for a job from a relative of the manager and other utilities, would have enjoyed concessions for his company.
