Justice Minister Yariv Levin admitted (Monday) in the Knesset plenum that the three indictments pending against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu contributed to his understanding that there are failures in the justice system.
"I fought for years for this path, which I believe in and which few shared," he declared.
"It took a long time to convince, and I will tell the truth - three indictments of this type really contributed to a very broad public understanding that there are failures in the justice system that need to be corrected, and there is no doubt that it contributed a lot."
Levin went on to claim that the protests against the reform would not deter him.
"I am very determined," he clarified.
"It is the right of those who oppose holding demonstrations near my house, and that's fine, I have no complaint about this matter. I want to hear the criticism, personally or in a committee or wherever you want, but the attempts to scare and paint it in colors that have no relation to reality - in this way You will have no influence on the change. I am sure that at the end of the process we will come out with a fundamental change that will take years, balance will come to the State of Israel in the governing authorities, democracy as it should be, trust in the judicial system and I have no doubt that we will see the effects of the reform in this hall as well - people will say that it is good that I did what I did."

The Minister of Justice said these words during a debate on motions of no confidence submitted by Yesh Atid factions and the state camp in the new Netanyahu government, and in response to criticism that the reform is now being promoted in an attempt to rescue Netanyahu, who is facing three indictments for bribery, fraud and breach of trust.
The head of the opposition and chairman of Yesh Atid Yair Lapid answered him in response: "You are not exempt from the question: why suddenly now, after 15 years of being a voice in the dark, the prime minister with three serious indictments and Minister Deri, a serial convicted felon, decided to stand behind you?
The discussion about the details is an unnecessary discussion, you want us to discuss the details to give legitimacy.
We will not discuss the details, why?
The answer is three indictments and Minister Deri's files."
