A police officer in the Metropolitan Police of London admitted today (Monday) to committing dozens of rape cases.
David Crick, 48, admitted a string of assaults on women, including 24 counts of rape between 2003 and 2020 - making him one of Britain's most prolific sex offenders.
The police apologized today and said that they should have recognized his modus operandi.
According to her, Crick used his power as a police officer to commit the shocking crimes.
"We missed opportunities during the period to identify his pattern of behavior," Barbara Gray, the superintendent's adviser, told Sky News.
"We sincerely regret the fact that he continued to serve as a police officer. Our job is to identify and get rid of corrupt police officers, and this work will continue."
A senior police officer said that his transfers were "unprecedented".
Crick was suspended when he was arrested in October 2021.
Crick met some of the women on dating sites like Tinder and Badoo and used his position as a police officer to gain the women's trust.
In one case, Creek raped the woman in the woods and beat her with a belt, among other things.
In another case, he locked a woman in a closet under the stairs.
He was active mainly in the Hertfordshire area, where he lived.

Jeswanth Narvell, the lead prosecutor, said that "Crick served in a position of trust. He had a responsibility to protect the public, but for more than 17 years, in his private life, he did the exact opposite. This is a man who humiliated, belittled, sexually assaulted and raped women . As time passed, the severity of his offenses intensified. He became bolder and thought he would be able to get away with it."
Crick served in the Diplomatic and Parliamentary Protection Unit.
He admitted that he raped women, some of them several times over months and years.
Many of the rape cases also included physical violence and beatings.
The police froze his salary and opened an expedited procedure against him, with his hearing in court expected to be held tomorrow.
The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said he was "appalled" by Crick's crimes.
"Serious questions must be asked and serious answers must be received about how he was able to take advantage of his position as a police officer in such a terrible way."
