Icking - The CSU member of the Bundestag Alexander Radwan is clearly in favor of arms deliveries to Ukraine - including heavy weapons such as battle tanks and anti-aircraft missiles.
At the invitation of the Ickinger CSU local association, he discussed the "change in foreign policy" with party colleagues from the district at the Landgasthof Klostermaier.
Radwan is a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee.
Icking's CSU local chairman Dr.
Christoph Preuss described himself as a "pacifist".
He said he believes defensive weapons like the US Patriot system make sense.
Radwan countered that, in principle, any weapon could be used for self-defense or for destruction.
He called it "bad" how hesitant Germany had been for months.
Only after France and the USA had declared that they would supply certain weapons to Ukraine did Germany follow suit.
The foreign policy expert is convinced: "If we were braver, the war could be shortened."
He does not see the danger of a nuclear war.
Radwan relies on the American statement that if Putin resorts to nuclear weapons, NATO will turn all conventional weapons against Russia.
The constituency deputy also warned that Putin would not be satisfied with Ukraine.
After a certain regeneration phase, he will invade Moldova and other former Soviet states.
The energy transition cannot be achieved without material from China
In order to strengthen Germany in the medium and long term, Alexander Radwan wants to stick to the proven motto "Change through trade" without making himself economically dependent on countries like China.
However, he warned that the energy transition would not be possible without material from China.
It was high time that the EU CETA trade agreement with Canada was ratified - even if there were still opponents in the ranks of the Greens.
If we were braver, the war could be shortened.
Alexander Radwan
Radwan, the son of an Egyptian and a profound expert on the Arab world, condemned the "moralizing behavior" of German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, with reference to the World Cup in Qatar.
"Foreign policy is interest politics," Radwan is convinced.
Overall, Germany's behavior over the past few months has seriously damaged the country's international reputation: "We have failed to be a reliable partner." The comfortable times in politics are over.
One has to make a great effort to save peace in Europe for the next generations.
Holz and Schwarzenberger: election campaign on their own behalf
Before Radwan's presentation, CSU district parliament candidate Thomas Schwarzenberger, mayor of Krün, and CSU state parliament candidate Thomas Holz, mayor of Kochel, campaigned on their own behalf.
Holz considers the "botch" made by the traffic light coalition in Berlin to be "shameful".

He is certain that in Bavaria no emergency services would be shot at with fireworks, as was the case on New Year's Eve in the capital.
"Especially in rural areas, people have respect for the rescue workers." Bavarian politics would punish something like this severely.
If he is elected, Holz wants to campaign for the Wolfratshauser district clinic to be maintained under municipal sponsorship, for the extension of the S7 to Geretsried and for the expansion of local public transport in the countryside.
Thomas Schwarzenberger emphasized the integration of people with disabilities from the numerous tasks of the district.
Many people with disabilities or mental health problems have also fled from the Ukraine, he said.
Accommodating them in the appropriate facilities is a major challenge: "It is important that we help without being overwhelmed ourselves."
