The roads that lead to the former zone to be defended (ZAD) of Notre-Dame-des-Landes are now well cleared, even the former “route des chicanes” (D281), almost impassable for years.
From the locality of Bellevue to the Black Fosses, only a few clusters of dwellings testify to the presence of some 150 former zadists still on site: old farms, wooden buildings or caravans.
The "ZAD" tags and the militant signs have almost all disappeared.
30 kilometers north-west of Nantes, the former 1,650 hectare “deferred development zone” has been transformed into a much calmer “definitive autonomy zone”.
On the 1650 hectares of the former ZAD, now pacified, there are traces of the occupation and the "historic" farms.
