At the New Year's reception, the municipality of Poing awarded eight people with the citizen's medal.

Usually there are always four, but due to Corona, honors were made up for.

Poing - Double premiere at the Poinger New Year's reception: Because this event was not possible in the past two years due to Corona, it was the first New Year's reception for the Mayor Thomas Stark, who was newly elected in 2020, on Sunday afternoon in the fully occupied auditorium of the Anni Pickert School.

And: Because the citizen medals could not be presented in person last year, also because of Corona, this has now been made up for.

For the first time, not four, but eight volunteer citizens were honored.

The music band Poing under the direction of conductor Angela Ebmeyer provided the musical accompaniment.

Poing: Mayor remembers events

Because the honors should be in the foreground, Stark had already announced in advance that he would only give a short New Year's speech.

He stuck to that.

In his speech, he recalled events in the past year that were finally possible again after the compulsory Corona break.

As examples he named the folk festival, the street festival, the market Sundays, the maypole erection in Angelrechting as well as the anniversary celebrations of the SG Poing (50 years), the ski club (50 years), the voluntary fire brigade (150 years), the soldiers and comradeship association (100 years) and the beekeeping association (125 years).

He also thanked all citizens who are volunteers and especially those who have helped or are still helping refugees from Ukraine.

The two pastors Philipp Werner (Catholic) and Michael Simonsen (Protestant) also spoke New Year's greetings, as well as Loris Persuric, Mayor of Porec, as a surprise guest.

This year the town friendship between Poing and the Croatian town in the district of Istria celebrates its tenth anniversary.

Poing: Award for services to the common good

Since 2004, the municipality of Poing (always by resolution of the municipal council) has awarded the citizen's medal for people who are committed to the common good.

As of Sunday, 67 Citizen Medals had been awarded, and now eight have been added.

In detail:

Georgine Waldmann

is a sports trainer with heart and soul, said Mayor Stark in his laudatory speech.

"She is one of the veterans of SG Poing." From 1980 she worked as a trainer for around four decades, initially for groups of children, later she also trained adults in aerobics, strength training, body workouts and Pilates.

In addition, there were about 25 years of sports lessons at the adult education center and water aerobics courses in the old school swimming pool.

The married couple

Marianne and Harry Lorenz

have been involved in Ramadama since their retirement and set up the initiative "Poinger help Poinger seniors" a few years ago.

The income from the flea market, which the couple regularly organizes together with helpers at the Poinger weekly market, as well as other donations, mainly benefit the senior center and its support association.

Founding member and player of the Poing bowling club and later founder of the Sportkegelklubs (SKK) 98 Poing, whose chairman he was for 20 years: this is

Erwin Zimmermann

.

The women's team of SKK 98 plays in the 1st Bundesliga and regularly internationally, including in the Champions League.

As an international referee, Zimmermann was number 1 in the referee world rankings in bowling for seven years.

"Erwin Zimmermann has made the Poing community internationally known with his outstanding sporting successes and has been able to inspire countless players for bowling," praised Mayor Thomas Stark.

Poing: Commitment in many areas

Cornelia Gütlich

has been chair of the Poinger Kulturtage association

since it was founded in 2013 .

These take place annually with theatre, ballet performances and concerts.

She has also been part of the street festival organization team since 2005.

Furthermore, Gülich was a member of the municipal council from 2016 to 2022 and she was chairwoman of the SPD local association.

In addition, she volunteered in the Protestant church and in the café of the senior center, Mayor Stark listed in the laudatory speech.

For professional reasons, Cornelia Gütlich moved to Grafing last year.

With the Poinger Kulturtage, however, she will continue to enrich cultural life in the community.

Ludwig Berger

was and still is active in sports, politics and society for decades

.

Mayor Thomas Stark recalled that from the mid-1970s, Berger was the groundskeeper and sports manager at the Poinger tennis club and was "involved in the construction of the current clubhouse and tennis facility with thousands of volunteer hours, among other things".

Likewise for the rifle club during the construction of the rifle club integrated in the fire station.

Berger was also a co-organizer of the legendary "Poinger Opera Balls" at carnival time and is a founding member and chairman of the Poing-Porec partnership committee.

From 1996 to 2021 he was a member of the municipal council for the CSU and spokesman for the parliamentary group for 19 years.

In 2021 his time in the Poinger local parliament ended because he moved to his parents' house in Forstinning.

Poing: Active in the Angelrechting district for decades

In 1984, the volunteer fire brigade of the district of Angelrechting was integrated into the Poinger fire brigade as firefighting group 4.

The Angelrechting fire brigade association was founded, of which

Simon Hermann

was 2nd chairman from 2005 and has been its 1st chairman since 2013.

As early as 1980, he and his teenage friends began to organize the public Angelrechtingen midsummer bonfire.

This resulted in the vintage morning pint, in which up to 500 vehicles now take part every year and, according to Mayor Stark, around 80 people help out.

"Simon Hermann works tirelessly for his fellow human beings and significantly promotes club life in the district of Angelrechting."

For many years, Hans Hoesch

was a youth leader, sports director and rifle champion in the Hubertus Poing shooting club.

Here, in the early 1990s, he volunteered with club members to build the fire station.

In return, the shooters received club rooms in the building at Friedensstraße 1. After his board work in the shooting club ended in 2011, Hoesch looked for another volunteer job: since 2012 he has been supporting Manfred Wildner in organizing the Poinger senior hikes, and Hans Hoesch has been leading them since 2020 Group.
