The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that its Su-27 fighter escorted a German reconnaissance plane over the Baltic Sea and removed it from Russian airspace.
Russia Today quoted the ministry as saying in a statement that the Russian fighter detected an R3S Orion patrol plane belonging to the German Navy, and escorted it over the Baltic Sea,” noting that after the foreign plane was removed from the country’s borders, the Russian fighter returned to its base.
The statement stressed that the Russian fighter carried out its mission in accordance with international rules regulating the use of airspace over neutral waters without threatening the safety of the foreign aircraft.
