Nineteen people were killed Monday, January 16 in the morning in the north of Senegal in a collision between a bus and a truck, eight days after a road accident which left more than 40 dead, we learned from firefighters.
The shock that occurred near the town of Sakal (north), in the Louga region, left 24 injured, Colonel Papa Ange Michel Diatta, a national firefighter official, told AFP.
Without vehicle regulations, accidents increase
The collision between two buses had caused the death of more than 40 people on January 8 in the center of the country, bringing to light the evils of the road in Senegal, as in many African countries: dilapidated and dangerous layout of vehicles, reckless conduct, or widespread corruption of law enforcement or licensing officials.

The tragedy of January 8 attributed to the bursting of a tire has sparked a flood of criticism against the authorities for their inability to enforce the rules of driving, but also the regulations on the condition of vehicles, despite the increase in accidents .
The Senegalese government immediately announced some twenty measures.
But many of them are decried as being inapplicable by transport professionals.
