Posing as a girl to commit sexual offenses against minors online, threats and extortion:
The Israel Police today (Monday) arrested a 36-year-old man from Jerusalem on suspicion of the offenses of indecency with minors under aggravated circumstances, extortion and threats on a sexual basis, creating obscene material against minors, and more.
The acts were allegedly carried out while a legal proceeding was being conducted against the suspect for committing similar offenses against minors abroad.
In the last few weeks, Moked 105, the national headquarters for the protection of children online, received two minor reports about an Instagram profile that goes by the name: "Juliana Andreucci" allegedly belonging to a girl, who claims that she lives abroad and is going to come to Israel and is therefore interested in getting to know them.
During the relationship between them, which took place on the social network and lasted for several months, the boys were asked by the same girl, apparently, to take pictures of themselves in sportswear and partially naked, and even produce and send videos in which they themselves perform sexual acts.
The minors carried out the instructions they received and sent videos as requested.
At some point, when they asked to stop sending videos, the same suspect began threatening to distribute the videos he received from them to acquaintances and friends of those boys if they did so or if they contacted the police.
Following the reports, an undercover investigation was opened in the Cyber Unit of the Jerusalem District together with Unit 105. After a variety of investigative operations, the police investigators revealed the identity of the operator of the profile who identified himself as the aforementioned girl.
Today the cyber investigators of the Jerusalem Police Department arrested the suspect for questioning at his home.
In the search of his home, various computers and mobile devices were seized.
The suspect was taken for questioning by the police, and tomorrow the police are expected to request the extension of his detention at the Peace Court in Jerusalem in order to complete the investigation.
We note that a few years ago the suspect was arrested by the police on suspicion of committing similar crimes against minors, at the end of his investigation an indictment was filed against him and the legal process in his case is ongoing these days.
