Syria condemned in the strongest terms the US administration's targeting of the health sector in Syria once again, stressing that the new US inhumane measures fall within the context of the illegal and immoral blockade imposed on the Syrian people and call for urgent international action to put an end to these hostile practices.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a statement, a copy of which SANA received today: The Syrian Arab Republic condemns in the strongest terms the US administration and the so-called Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) of the US Department of Commerce targeting the health sector in Syria again, by imposing additional restrictions on Allowing the sale of equipment or the provision of services, support or spare parts to a large number of Syrian public and private hospitals.

The ministry added, “These new inhumane measures fall within the context of the illegal unilateral coercive measures and the illegal and immoral siege imposed by the United States of America on the Syrian people, and once again confirms the invalidity of the allegations promoted by the American administration about the existence of exceptions for humanitarian purposes from these measures.”

The Ministry stressed that targeting hospitals that provide health care to millions of Syrians, including the University Children's Hospital, calls for urgent action by the United Nations, the World Health Organization and the International Committee of the Red Cross to put an end to these hostile practices, which represent collective punishment for the Syrian people and a flagrant violation of the provisions of international law, international humanitarian law and international law. International Human Rights Council and hinders the efforts of the Syrian government and international partner organizations in humanitarian work to improve the living conditions and provide health care for Syrians.
