The Minister of Agriculture, Eng. Mohamed Hassan Qatna, discussed with the Vice President of the General Union of Workers in Agriculture, Irrigation, Hunting and Egyptian Land Reclamation Abdel Fattah Sayed Ahmed and the accompanying delegation, the development of agricultural relations and cooperation between the two countries, in a way that serves the agricultural sector and farmers in the two countries.
Qatana reviewed the reality of agriculture in Syria and the difficulties that farmers faced during the previous years, stressing that the Syrian farmer did not leave his land despite all the circumstances he went through and continued farming, and that government support for the agricultural sector remained continuous with the aim of achieving stability for the farmer on his land and securing agricultural requirements.
The Minister of Agriculture pointed to the importance of cooperation in improving agricultural practices and mechanization and introducing new varieties that are adapted to climate changes and have high productivity, in addition to paying attention to rural development to encourage food industries and provide job opportunities for rural people, and achieve balance in production and link agriculture with agricultural industries.
The head of the Egyptian delegation, Abdel-Fattah Sayed Ahmed, stressed the strength of relations with Syria and the importance of developing them, in a way that benefits agriculture and farmers in both countries.
The meeting was attended by the head of the General Union of Peasants, Ahmed Saleh Ibrahim.
