Deadly attack in Dnipro

Relief was still active on Sunday evening to find survivors in the ruins of a building in Dnipro, hit the day before by a strike whose toll was at least 30 dead.

A one-ton Kh-22 missile hit a 10-storey apartment building, injuring 73 people, according to the head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional military administration, Valentyn Reznichenko.

Dozens of people are still missing.

On Saturday alone, "

the enemy carried out three airstrikes and around fifty missile strikes during the day

", specified the staff of the Ukrainian army.

The Russian Defense Ministry claimed responsibility for the attacks, saying "

 all designated targets were hit

Russia welcomes Soledar takeover

Vladimir Putin welcomed Sunday the capture of the town of Soledar, in the Donbass, always denied by Kiev which affirms that the "

 fighting continues in the city

".

The dynamic is positive and everything is going according to plan

,” the Kremlin chief told Russian public television.

On Friday, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed that Soledar's "

 release

" had taken place the day before, "

 January 12 in the evening

".

According to Moscow, the conquest of Soledar is an important step to encircle the nearby city of Bakhmout.

The capture of this small Ukrainian town was therefore presented to Moscow as a success, but Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Ganna Maliar assured Sunday evening that the Ukrainian forces had held their positions.

They "

repelled the invaders' attacks

" at multiple frontline points in the Lugansk and Donetsk regions, including Soledar, she said.

Put simply, the battle continues

New deliveries of heavy armament

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg ruled on Sunday that Vladimir Putin had "

overestimated the strength

" of his troops in invading Ukraine.

"

We see their missteps, their lack of morale, their command problems, their poor equipment

" and their "

heavy losses

", he told the German daily Handelsblatt.

"

The recent (Western) promises of heavy weaponry delivery are significant - and I expect there will be more in the near future

," he added, days before a new coordination meeting in Germany on January 20 of Western countries providing aid to Ukraine.

Western nations have long been reluctant to deliver heavier weaponry to kyiv, fearing they will be drawn into the war.

But at the beginning of January, France, Germany and the United States finally promised to send armored infantry or reconnaissance tanks - 40 German Marders, 50 American Bradleys and French AMX-10 RCs.

The United Kingdom announced on Saturday that it is about to deliver fourteen Challenger 2 heavy tanks to Ukraine. Several Western states, including France with its AMX 10-RCs, have also announced the supply of tanks from infantry or reconnaissance, lighter.

The decisions of the United Kingdom “

will send the right signal to the other partners

”, estimates Volodymyr Zelensky.

Poland said it was ready last Wednesday to deliver fourteen Leopard 2 heavy tanks of German design, - which requires the prior approval of Berlin.

Joint Russian-Belarusian exercises

Belarus announced the launch of joint air exercises with Russia on Monday.

If these exercises are of a defensive nature, assured Minsk, they come against the backdrop of Ukraine's fear that President Alexander Lukashenko will engage in war alongside his ally Vladimir Putin.

Pavel Muraveyko, first deputy state secretary of the Belarusian Security Council, said the situation on the country's southern border with Ukraine was "

not very calm

", and that Ukraine was "
