The Élysée Treaty will be 60 years old: here is the Franco-German couple at senior age, and perhaps at that of wisdom.
But it is also, according to some, the time of aging, even of retirement: Franco-German friendship would be a worn cliché at the end of a banquet.
We don't believe it, although we don't deny any of the challenges.
This is why we, a group of a few French men and women, are taking the initiative today: that of the creation of a Franco-German Academy in Paris, as there has been an Academy in Berlin since 2006. We are creating it independently of all official structures, with the personal support of the German Ambassador in France who will host our meetings, as does the French Ambassador in Berlin.
We bring together, beyond the usual silos of specialists in Franco-German, multidisciplinary and thus renewed views: those of academics and business leaders, people of culture and administration...
