Until 5 years ago, Ben Vaknin worked in the automotive field.

Due to a complaint, they surrendered his pit bull dog, which was taken for 10 days.

When he came to take him back from the city kennel, he found himself in a job interview.

On the turning point in his life due to the bitter experience that became a significant milestone, on the circle being closed and on the fact that everything that happens, happens for the better.

"My entry into the municipal kennel was not easy to say the least. Unfortunately, I saw a place that was crying out for help. The lack of personnel and the presence of one dog against 100 dogs is a jarring sight that is hard to forget. Despite the efforts of those involved in the craft, I was exposed to difficult conditions, including with the great desire and the sense of mission, it is not possible to apply proper treatment to dogs."

How did you start working in kennels?

Ben: "There are things that happen that can only be understood in hindsight. My dog's quarantine was very traumatic, for me and for him. When I arrived at the kennel, I discovered that there was one employee with special needs, and even the efforts to recruit new employees were quite poor. Even the employees who managed to recruit were leaving After one day of work, and even though the conditions didn't charm me, the dogs made me want to stay. I felt that I had to be there and make a difference, however small, I knew it would mean something. I started working there immediately, and within a few months I applied to dog training studies. At the end of my studies, I opened Home boarding".

Ben does not advocate one training method.

According to him, some train with the positive method, and others with the classical method.

But he advocates one method that he found effective for every relationship in his life - communication!

Ben: "The basis of any relationship with a dog, as with humans, is the communication skills and the trust you build with it. I diagnose each dog personally, and always prefer the positive method. However, when it is required, I also work to restrain the dog."

Ben's activities in quarantine stopped when he opened an independent dog training and boarding business.

His professional incarnations in the field led him to teach at the same time as part of the "Young Teacher" circle in schools in Be'er Sheva, and today he comes full circle.

Ben: "I no longer work at the kennels, but I am a dog trainer for the "Beer Sheva Loves Animals" association. As part of my activity, all the dogs that are quarantined come to me for a training process, which is designed to help them find a warm and loving home and quickly adapt to the adoption process."

Your clientele keeps showering praise on quick results and substantial changes in the dog's behavior and character.

what's the secret

Ben: "The truth is that in everything related to dog training, success depends on the dog's owner, no less than on my work or on the dog itself. The owners must be involved in the process, and I always make it clear that most of the work is theirs, when they are with the dog at home, in the environment the natural. It is important to inculcate habits, be consistent and continue the conditioning and learning processes at home. Without active cooperation on the part of the dog's owner, any change, if any, may be temporary or only partial."

How is the training process conducted?

Ben: "You can come to me or I come to the client's home. I start by diagnosing the problems and coordinating expectations, building a treatment strategy and establishing a plan. Usually it is a one-week meeting that lasts an hour until the desired result is reached, the one defined in the first meeting."

Ben: "That's right. I sell equipment and food for dogs from the leading brands through the website, and allow all dog owners and lovers to order online everything they need to breed and care for the dog right at home."
