Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro confessed to "some mistakes" during his term in front of supporters in the United States, according to a video released Monday.

“In four years, every day was Monday.

We made some mistakes,” Jair Bolsonaro told his supporters, according to a video posted by the Metropoles news portal.

The former far-right leader left Brazil on December 30, two days before the handover to his leftist successor Lula, who defeated him at the polls in October's presidential election.

In the excerpt posted by the Metrópoles news site, his supporters advise him not to return to Brazil, where the Supreme Court recently included him in an investigation for his role in the looting of places of power on the 8 January.

That day, thousands of people identified as Bolsonarists swarmed the seat of the presidency, Congress and the Supreme Court, refusing to recognize the election result.

"I deplore what happened," said Jair Bolsonaro, calling these events "incredible".
