Will it be winterly cold again in Germany?
It could still snow in large parts of Germany in January, according to the forecast by weather expert Dominik Jung.
Munich – January showed its mild side in the first half of the month.
The first few weeks after the New Year were characterized by relatively pleasant temperatures and a few rays of sunshine.
But that should be the end of it for the time being.
As meteorologist Dominik Jung predicts, winter is slowly but surely returning to Germany.

Weather in Germany: Deep snow is imminent
"It's slowly getting going again: winter.
After a total failure in the first half of January, it seems to be slowly picking itself up again," says Jung, managing director of the weather service Q.met.
As "exciting" he describes "the small but nice deep snow next weekend".
Then it could hit large parts of this country - apart from the north and north-east.
On Saturday there could be between five and ten centimeters of snow.

However, the cold can already be clearly felt from Wednesday.
Cool temperatures are spreading in Germany.
On “Wednesday morning we have light frost almost everywhere, only on the coasts and directly on the Rhine are there still slight plus degrees measured.” Jung’s overview of the following days also suggests a rather cold and wet weather development:
Wednesday, January 18, 2023:
0 to 4 degrees, mixed, isolated snow showers, sunshine from time to time
Thursday 19 January 2023:
0 to 5 degrees, fresh snowfall from the west, below 200 m some sleet or precipitation
Friday, January 20, 2023:
-2 to +5 degrees, repeated snow showers, in between sunshine
Saturday, January 21, 2023:
-2 to +4 degrees, snowfall from the east all the way down.
Temperatures between minus ten and minus twelve degrees can occur at 1500 meters.
Sunday, January 22, 2023:
-2 to +2 degrees, lots of clouds and occasional snow down to low altitudes, which usually only remains from 200 degrees
Monday, January 23, 2023:
-2 to +2 degrees, lots of clouds and repeated snowfall
It is clear, as Jung also emphasized: "Early spring is now definitely over." It only remains to be seen from which side winter will actually show itself and how long it will last.
At the end of January, however, Germany is already approaching icy cold from Eastern Europe.
But whether it will actually reach us is still "uncertain", says Jung.
In Austria there is a new weather warning.
For an Austrian weather portal even a "snow roll" is rolling.
