Many people find it
annoying and invasive
when companies contact them by phone to offer products and services they don't need.
Especially when this happens
frequently
and
insistently
.
Sometimes they are
WhatsApp or SMS
messages .
On other occasions
, those who arrive at any time and at
inopportune
moments such as a nap, a work meeting and many others are
called .
What not everyone knows is that, by carrying out a
simple and online process
, the "bombardment" of commercial proposals
can end
.
Or at least be reduced a lot, both in fixed lines and in mobiles of which each one is the owner or authorized user.
The key is to
write down each
of these telephone numbers in an official database known as
the Do Not Call Registry
, so that they
are "armored"
against telemarketing contacts.
Before, sellers were more focused on landlines, now they are turning to cell phones in search of new customers.

What is the Do Not Call Registry and how does it work?
It is a nationwide
"black list"
, created in 2014 by Law 26,951, which gathers the telephone numbers of all the people in the country who
do not want to be contacted
by companies.
The Registry "is intended to
protect
the owners or authorized users of telephone services, in any of its modalities, from the
abuse of the contact procedure, advertising, offer, sale and gift of
unsolicited
goods or services
", defines the rule.
All fixed and mobile telephone users in the country have the right to add
all or some of their lines to this registry
free of charge.
Step by step, how to register a line in the Do Not Call Registry
1st.
Enter the site nollame.aaip.gob.ar.
2nd.

How long does it take for the inclusion of the number in the registry to take effect?
Once the line is included in the Do Not Call, all companies in the country that work with telesales and telephone marketing have the
obligation
to stop contacting that number in
a maximum of 30 days
.
The ban includes communications by all possible means: from calls to text messages (
SMS
) and contacts via
,
Telegram
and other instant messaging apps.
What to do if companies keep calling?
If the hotline has been
in the Do Not Call Registry
for more than 31 calendar days and contacts continue to be received from companies to
advertise, offer, sell or give away
unsolicited
goods or services
, the affected person may already report the offenders.
For that, the first thing will be to write down all the possible details, including the
screenshots
that can serve as proof.
The key data to retain are: from
what number
they communicated (if it was visible), on behalf of
what company
, with what offer, what day and
what time
exactly.
Finally, you will have to enter the official website
nollame.aaip.gob.ar
to report the breach.
For this it is necessary to go to "
Make a complaint
", fill out a form with all the details of the episode and then confirm the claim through a link that arrives by email.

What spam calls will still be able to legally come through?
"Registration in the National Do Not Call Registry will stop
most
advertising calls, but
not all
," the official site warns.
The reason is that, beyond the possible offenders, there is a series of calls and messages that
the law left excepted
: they are valid communications and therefore it is not possible to denounce them.
These are the following:
-Public good campaigns
.
They are those whose objective is education and social mobilization around programs, themes or important social problems.
They can call the Registry numbers, unless the campaign is just an excuse for commercial purposes.
-Electoral campaigns
.
They are those carried out by political parties prior to the elections, as provided by the National Electoral Code.
-Opinion surveys
.
Those who carry them out are not covered by the Do Not Call National Registry, unless they are used directly or indirectly for a commercial purpose.
-Emergency calls
.
They are those that seek to guarantee the health and safety of the population in situations of exceptional danger.
The law excepted the calls for surveys and electoral campaigns.

Finally, despite being in the Do Not Call Registry, registered users can legally continue to receive calls and messages with offers and commercial proposals from all those companies with which they have a
current contractual relationship
.
For example, the company that currently insures the vehicle or the one that provides the internet or home monitored alarm service.
According to the provisions, these companies can be contacted.
But this applies as long as the calls or messages refer
to the product or service purchased
, and are made during "
reasonable hours
".
