From the point of view of CSU regional group leader Alexander Dobrindt, future Defense Minister Boris Pistorius (SPD) must quickly tackle the project that was left behind by his predecessor.
"Lost time must be made up for," said Dobrindt on Tuesday in Berlin.
The successor to the previous Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht (SPD) must implement the 100 billion special fund for the Bundeswehr immediately.
Berlin – Pistorius is taking on a challenging task, for which the CSU wishes him success.
One of the first measures must be a "repair offensive" for the Leopard I and II battle tanks, said the head of the 45 CSU members of the Bundestag.
Pistorius must also immediately order missing ammunition and create the planned advisory body for the special fund for the Bundeswehr.
In addition, the decision must be made quickly to provide battle tanks to Ukraine, said Dobrindt.
There is a threat of a Russian spring offensive against which Ukraine must be able to defend itself.
That only works with battle tanks.
One must now get into a mode of continuously supplying Ukraine with heavy weapons.
A permanent replacement of the material destroyed in Ukraine is necessary, he said.
