Environmental activist Greta Thunberg was "in danger of her life" - and was taken by the police Israel today

Thunberg was in "immediate danger" to her life when she barricaded herself with protesters at the entrance of a coal mine in the west of the country.

Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg was detained by police in Germany today (Tuesday) while participating in a demonstration along with hundreds of others.

The reason: they demonstrated against the demolition of the village of Luetzerath in the west of the country, which was intended to allow the expansion of the nearby coal mine.

In the photos, Thunberg is seen being taken by force from the area, after the protesters refused to move away from the entrance to the mine, which the police said could have ended in disaster.

A spokesperson for the police said that it is not yet clear what will happen to Tunberg, but it seems that she may be officially detained and even taken away in a police vehicle.

"Thunberg was among the protesters who rushed to the entrance of the mine and she was detained with them because they were in immediate danger," the police said.

The demonstrations have actually been going on for several days, and the demonstrators hope that they will succeed with their bodies in blocking the bulldozers who have already begun the work of demolishing the village, which has already been evacuated of its residents.

The mine is controlled by the energy corporation RWE.

The protesters claim that there is no justifiable reason to destroy an entire settlement and that this stems from economic interests that are apparently intended to serve only the capitalists.

The demolition of the village is part of an agreement between the state and the corporation, which promised to preserve five villages in exchange for the demolition of two others.

For almost two years, activists have been trying to fortify themselves in the abandoned buildings.

"Germany is one of the biggest polluters, and should be held accountable for that," Thunberg said on Saturday.
