The purpose of the law is to bring about the prevention and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the damages of the climate crisis in Israel.

"We will bring the climate law to a vote": The Minister of Environmental Protection, Idit Silman, spoke at the opening of the "Environment 2050" conference and presented the goals her office is aiming for in its vision for the future of the office.

"I intend to focus on the climate crisis and the transition to a zero-emissions economy as stipulated in the coalition agreements, and to promote and bring to the Knesset's approval the climate law," said the minister, "the waste dumped in the open areas must be treated and regulated, and we must see it as a resource and not a nuisance. The ministry has formulated a waste policy many times whose goal is to significantly reduce the dumping and crime of waste in Israel. Now, it is clear to everyone that what is missing is action on the ground and implementation of the correct and relevant things from strategies that have already been formulated."

She also said: "The climate crisis is part of our daily reality and the preparation for climate change is surely also closely related to the local authorities. And in recent years we have also witnessed here in Israel more and more extreme heat waves, fire incidents, an increase in drought incidents and these trends are expected to worsen

In her words, Silman continued and presented the problem of waste disposal in Israel: "It is difficult to ignore the amounts of waste illegally dumped in open areas, on roadsides, in agricultural fields. This waste creates hazards, causes environmental pollution and even poses a danger to public health."

"Israeli industry takes a full part in the fight against climate change," Dr. Ron Tomer,

The President of the Federation of Manufacturers and the Chairman of the Presidency of Employers and Businesses, Dr. Ron Tomer, also spoke at the conference and said that "Israeli industry is taking a full part in the fight against climate change."

According to the association's president, "The fight against climate change is a fight for all of humanity, and Israeli industry sees itself as a significant partner in the effort, both nationally and internationally, to reduce emissions and maintain a sustainable environment. Many companies in Israeli industry have already adopted a voluntary policy to reduce emissions, and long-term commitments, To the point of zero carbon in 2050."

"Industry is the solution," said Dr. Tomer, "and there are quite a few companies that are developing the technology of the future for renewable energies and energy storage and we must, also as a country, assist and help them.

In addition, Tomer added that in the test of the result, it is possible to see a decrease of tens of percent in emissions, through huge investments, the implementation of innovative technologies, and the promotion of a circular economy.
