Direct: "Begin's Legacy and the Plan for Regime Change in Israel" conference at Bar-Ilan University
Former ombudsman Avichai Mandelblit arrived this evening (Tuesday) for a conference of former Justice Minister Gideon Sa'ar against Yariv Levin's legal revolution. The conference is called "Begin's Legacy and the Plan for Regime Change in Israel" and is being held at Bar-Ilan University.
The 10th President of the State of Israel, Reuven Rivlin will open the conference tonight. During his term as president, Rivlin suffered attacks from members of the Knesset in Likud, among other things when he said that he decided to assign the mandate to the candidate with the highest chance of forming the government - after the elections in 2021. "The president does not determine the results of the elections.
He must not be a political actor," the party's senior officials wrote in a joint statement. After the Likud seniors' statement, Rivlin replied in a statement on behalf of the President's House and said that "their words do not add respect to what they said and it would be better for them not to say it."

MK Gideon Sa'ar spoke out several times against the legal revolution led by Levin. Tonight, he opened the conference and attacked the Minister of Justice and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: "Let's not get confused, I respect my replacement as Minister Levin, but there really is no Levin plan.
There is a Netanyahu plan.
The voice is Levin's voice and the hands are Netanyahu's," he said.
Sa'ar continued, "This gathering is taking place in days when it is very possible that Israel is heading for the greatest constitutional and regime crisis in its history.
Days when key features of the democratic regime in Israel as we know them are under attack by the government, led by an unprecedented attempt to take over the
judiciary and the public legal service."
of 61 members of the Knesset, strengthening the power of the politicians in the committee for selecting judges, canceling the reason for reasonableness and redefining the status of legal advisors to ministers.
