Cooking chickpeas in water is very similar to cooking chickpeas in a casserole dish, it still requires a little more time.

The difference lies in the fact that the water is not heated upstream.

The idea is to put the chickpeas in a large saucepan, add three times their volume of unsalted water and start cooking.

When the water reaches its boiling point, place the lid on low heat and leave to cook for 1 hour 30 minutes.

Steaming chickpeas

Steaming chickpeas requires a steamer as a tool.

It is also possible to carry out this cooking method with a pressure cooker.

The method is identical to that used for steamed vegetables or other legumes.

Place the chickpeas in the basket and add enough water to allow the creation of steam.

Within an hour, the legume is cooked.

Baking is more of a pleasure than cooking in itself.

The idea is to season the chickpeas before throwing them in the oven at 200°C for 30 minutes.

In a bowl, place the chickpeas already cooked and cooled in cold water, add olive oil, salt, pepper.

For more flavors, spices or seeds can be added as desired.

Paprika, cumin, coriander, parsley, gomasio… anything is possible.

When well seasoned, the chickpeas can be laid flat on a baking sheet and cooked evenly.

Cooking chickpeas in the pan

Chickpeas can be pan-fried.

Once cooked in boiling water or steamed, the chickpeas should be run under cold water and drained.
