The new legislative year of the Legislative Council kicked off. 18 panel committees elected their chairmen and vice-chairmen today (17th). All of them were elected without competition.

Lin Jianfeng of the Democratic Federation and Liao Changjiang, the "squad leader" of the establishment faction, continued to take charge.


The Economic Development Affairs Committee is all headed by new members of the Legislative Assembly. Chen Zuhang from the Democratic League replaced his party friend Wu Yongjia as the chairman, and So Chang-wing, the election committee member, served as the vice-chairman.

The chairman of the Health Affairs Committee was re-elected by the Liberal Party Zhang Yuren, and the vice-chairman was replaced by "A4 Alliance" Yang Yongjie.

The Food Safety and Environmental Hygiene Affairs Committee was re-elected by Chen Kaixin, the election committee member, as the chairman, and Chen Jiapei from the New Democratic Party was re-elected as the vice-chairman.

In the Transportation Affairs Committee, Yi Zhiming of the Liberal Party did not run for re-election as chairman. Chen Hengpin from the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment of Hong Kong took office, and Chen Shaoxiong, the election committee member, was re-elected as vice-chairman.

Deng Jiabiao of the Federation of Trade Unions replaced Chen Hangbin as the chairman of the Welfare Affairs Committee, and the vice-chairman was Guan Haoming, the election committee member.

Chen Hack-kin of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment of Hong Kong was re-elected as the chairman of the Security Affairs Committee, and Jian Huimin of the election committee replaced Li Tung-kwok of the New Democratic Party as the vice-chairman.

The chairperson and vice-chairman of the Constitutional Affairs Committee are re-elected by Zhou Haoding from the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment of Hong Kong and Li Haoran from the election committee respectively.

The chairman of the Civil Affairs, Cultural and Sports Affairs Committee was re-elected by Zheng Yongshun, and the former vice-chairman Huo Qigang did not compete for re-election, so Chen Yingxin from the Federation of Trade Unions took up the post.
